Location: Lake Elsinore Storm Field, Lake Elsinor
500 Diamond Drive - Lake Elsinore, CA 92530

On Wednesday, March 19, 2008 the combined memberships of the
Los Angeles Basin and SoCal Chapters of the Sports Turf Managers
Association assembled at Diamond Stadium of the Lake Elsinore
Strom for the first annual “Going Green with The Storm” turf
meeting. We were hosted by Chris Ralston, Director of Grounds/Stadium
Operations. Chris spoke on his recent replacement of the field
including a new irrigation system, infield mix and turf.

The key note speaker was Patrick Caughey, Landscape Architect
for Wimmer, Yamada and Caughey. Patrick’s 50-year-old company
is the oldest and most established landscape architectural firm
in San Diego County. He spoke on his firms design techniques
being used today to help companies “Go Green.”

Additional presentations were made by Rob Whipple of the Lake
Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District, John Marmon of West
Coast Turf and Mark Jong of Gro Better Organiz Fertilizers.

The day concluded with lunch, followed by a tour of the facilities,
a vendor exposition and a tour of the newly installed Seashore
Paspalum at the nearby Summerly Golf Course.

The reviews are in and the expo was deemed a success by the
attendees. Plans are currently being discussed to hold a second
annual event in 2009. For more information on the Storm, or your
